Local Lifestyle

With a population of just about 75,000, Rowlett has a charming small-town feel. Rowlett residents enjoy a lower cost of living than the big city. The city has a Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) station which makes it easy for residents to get in and out of Dallas.

Rowlett is made up of a number of neighborhoods and subdivisions, including Lakewood Pointe, Lake Shore Park, and Bayside. Bayside is a mixed-use planned community in Rowlett featuring single-family homes, townhouses, luxury apartments, and a host of resident amenities. This peaceful, family-friendly neighborhood also has multiple parks including a 2-acre dog park and access to the Lake Ray Hubbard waterfront. Like many Dallas suburbs, many of the single-family homes in Rowlett feature brick and stone exteriors.

Luxury apartments are available in the heart of downtown Rowlett, such as Village of Rowlett apartments. These newly constructed studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments and townhomes feature luxe modern design, outdoor yards and patios, top-tier amenities, and easy access to downtown Rowlett’s shopping and dining.

Dining, Shopping, and Entertainment

Downtown Rowlett has experienced a renaissance in recent years as the community has grown in population. Downtown Rowlett embraces the city’s history while supporting its economic development and welcoming new businesses. Residents can enjoy a cup of coffee at The Modern Well, explore specialty boutiques like Lexie’s or Wisp and Willow, and sample local beer from Bankhead Brewing

One of the newest hot spots in Rowlett is Barrocos Latin Cuisine, an elegant and modern dining experience serving up traditional Colombian dishes alongside familiar Tex-Mex favorites. Opa Greek Taverna is a longtime local favorite for authentic Greek food in a casual setting.

Things to do in Rowlett

Rowlett’s town motto is “On the water and on the move.” No activity better encapsulates that attitude than the Harbor Lights Cruises. Harbor Lights offers scenic public cruises and private charter boat rides for events and special occasions.

Rowlett has a small-town feel exemplified in its community events designed to bolster local businesses and bring people together. Every year on July 4, residents gather for Fireworks on Main at Pecan Grove Park. In the spring, locals are invited to dine from local food trucks at Spring Lunch on the Lawn at the Village of Rowlett Downtown, every Monday from late March to late April.

Rowlett has plenty of activities that are ideal for kids and families, including Wet Zone water park. There are also a number of public parks and dog parks, so you can enjoy time outdoors in the sunny Texas weather.  Herfurth Park, Scentral Bark Dog Park (located within Herfurth Park), and Veterans Park are some of the most popular spots to enjoy the outdoors.
