From Paralegal to Dallas-Fort Worth Real Estate Agent
Before I ever held a real estate license, I spent 18 years working as a paralegal for real estate and litigation attorneys. That legal background — reading contracts, working alongside attorneys, managing large property portfolios across Texas — ended up being the perfect foundation for the business I run today.
I got licensed in 2016, went full-time in 2018, and now lead my own team serving homeowners across Dallas County and Collin County.
Finding My Niche
My second year in business, I took on my first divorce listing — a contentious case that two previous agents had already walked away from. We got it sold, and I knew I wanted more of that work. Referrals from attorneys followed, and by 2021 I realized I needed more than transaction experience. I needed training on the human side of these deals.
Becoming a Certified Divorce Real Estate Expert® (CDRE)
In 2022, I earned my CDRE designation through the Alumni Institute — the only program where you're trained directly by attorneys, judges, and real estate professionals. That training covers far more than contracts: neutrality, courtroom testimony, and how to be a resource attorneys actually trust.
Why These Transactions Are Different
In most sales, buyer and seller want the same outcome. In divorce, that's rarely true — one spouse may want to sell fast, the other may not want to sell at all. Staying neutral, keeping both parties separated, and guiding them back to what they actually want is the whole job.
The Risk of Working with the Wrong Agent
Divorce transactions carry real risk when an agent isn't trained for them — from stalled listings to serious missteps like disclosing divorce status to a buyer's agent, which is a fair housing violation. If you're facing this in Collin or Dallas County, working with someone who specializes in this niche matters.
Why I'll Never Regret Choosing This Path
In our community, we say: if not me, then who? These aren't bad people — they're going through one of the hardest chapters of their lives. Someone has to advocate for them so they don't lose their equity, their home, or their ability to move forward.

There's a lot more to this story — including the moment I knew this was my calling, how I stay neutral when emotions run high, and what I'd tell any agent considering a niche of their own. I go into all of it on the Real Estate Insiders Unfiltered Podcast with James Dwiggins and Keith Robinson.
